Madeleine McCann was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday, 3 May 2007. Kate and Gerry McCann established 'Madeleine's Fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned' in response to the many generous donations that started to flood in from the general public who were wanting to help the search for their daughter in some way. As there had been no police force in the world actively looking for Madeleine since July 2008, the fund enabled a small team of committed and experienced people to investigate Madeleine's disappearance. It continues to support the search and also runs awareness campaigns in several countries, to ensure the public know that Madeleine is still missing, and to encourage them to remain vigilant.Once Madeleine has been found, the fund will be used to assist searches for other missing children worldwide.

Muss vorab sagen, dass ich der ganzen Entführungsstory immer etwas skeptisch gegenüber stand. Die Familie war mir einfach immer ZU perfekt und die ganze Story zu fantastisch. Trotzdem hat mich das Buch interessiert und so habe ich es während meines Irland Urlaubs gekauft und nicht bereut. Man erfährt viele neue Fakten, die ein anderes Licht auf die Story werfen und die Familie kommt einem auch viel sympatischer rüber. Manchmal fand ich Einstellungen oder bestimmte Aktion von ihnen zwar dennoch etwas strange aber größtenteils war das Buch interessant, lies sich gut lesen und war auch teilweise very touching!! Echt empfehlenswert
Madeleine McCann's disappearance has always been a topic that both touched me and had my attention. Even four years ago, when it took place and I was only 15 years old, I followed the media reports and could not help but feel incredibly horrified by what might have happened to this little girl and by what her parents were going through right then.However, the reason why I decided to buy and read this book was probably more my being intrigued by the lack of clarity and the obscurity the case Madeleine McCann developed in the years to come. I bought the book expecting an slightly incomprehensible account of a series of mysterious events which the author, Kate McCann, was probably going to try to conceal by adding a little hysteria and confusing details and furthermore push herself and her family forcefully back into the spotlight.I'm almost ashamed to admit that now, because certainly none of these expectation turned out to be true. This book is one of the most impressive, touching and heartfelt account of emotions and situations I've ever read. I'm impressed beyond words by this relentlessly open and honest account of what I'm now absolutely convinced happened when Madeleine disappeared in 2007. Kate McCann's detailed, precise account which grasps just the right tone - neither too emotional nor too matter-of-factly ' is in my opinion too logical, conclusive and based on facts to be made up.She is neither hysterical nor incomprehensible in what she shares about the disappearance of her daughter, nor does she add confusing or irrelevant details. Everything that woman says I can relate to, which makes the pain and the agony this family has gone through so concrete and understandable. I no longer believe that this book was written to push the McCanns back into the spotlight, because I believe when Kate writes that sometimes all she wants is her old life with its convenient anonymity. The McCann have one purpose by doing what it is that they have been doing for the past 4 years: Find their daughter.People who are not prepared to have a little compassion without constant suspicion just because they can't explain Madeleine's disappearance in a rational way so far are not obliged to read this ' I think the constant ripping apart of whatever Kate and Gerry McCann do is unnecessary and cruel.In my opinion, all Kate McCann wants to do is to share and immortalize the truth, not even particularly for us strangers, but for her children, especially Madeleine, who might be out there and who all the "haters" could just focus the energy they waste on badmouthing on and finally find her!
Da ich Portugal-Urlaubsfan bin und das Land und seine Menschen liebe, habe ich mich mit dem Vermisstenfall Madeleine McCann seit 2007 kontinuierlich befasst. Dabei habe ich immer versucht, objektiv und fair zu sein. Ein Grossteil der portugiesischen Polizeiakten, Zeugenaussagen usw. sind ja im Internet nachzulesen. Deshalb muss ich hier leider sagen, dass Kate McCann's Buch nicht der Realität entspricht, von Fakten in ihrem Buch kann keine Rede sein. Was auch mal klargestellt werden muss, ist, dass die McCanns niemals eine offizielle Wiedereröffnung des Falles bei der portugiesischen Justiz angestrebt haben, und dies wäre ein Leichtes für die McCanns gewesen, ein formloser Brief hätte gereicht. Wie der ehemalige Chefermittler in dem Fall, Dr. Goncalo Amaral gesagt hat: 'Es hätte nur eine Briefmarke gekostet...' Was die McCanns wollen, ist eine nachträgliche Überprüfung des Falles durch britische Behörden. Da sollen angebliche Maddie-Sichtungen nochmals nachverfolgt werden usw. Auf diese Weise soll die Entführungstheorie forciert werden. Man muss aber ganz klar sagen, dass die portugiesische Polizei keinerlei Hinweise gefunden hat, die auf eine Entführung durch einen Fremden schliessen lassen, da nutzen den McCanns auch all ihre gigantischen Medienkampagnen nichts. Am schwierigsten wegzudiskutieren sind die Funde der Leichen- und Blutspürhunde "Eddie" und "Keela", die zahlreiche Urlaubsapartments im portugiesischen Praia Da Luz durchsucht haben und einzig und allein im Apartment und am Mietwagen der McCanns angeschlagen haben. Darüberhinaus haben sich die McCanns und ihre Urlaubsfreunde in ihren Aussagen vor der Polizei in zahllose Widersprüche verwickelt. Dringend sollte auch mal die Verwendung der Spendengelder überprüft werden. Der grösste Teil ist nicht für die eigentliche Suche nach dem vermissten Kind verwendet worden, nein, damit wurde ein Heer von Top-Anwälten, PR-Leuten und dubiosen Privatdetektiven bezahlt. Ein Anwalt der McCanns ist Michael Caplan, der 1999 die Auslieferung des chilenischen Dikators Pinochet an Spanien verhinderte.
